Started learning music while studying at Vembadi Girls High School from Smt. Parameswary Vijayaratnam M.A (Music).Also studied under Sangeetha Bhushanam T.Rajalingam and Mr. A.Velauthapillai for a while and then from Sangeetha Bhushanam S. Kanapathippillai for three years before leaving for India

Awards, Medals, Prizes:
Won first prize and gold medal in the Island wide music competition conducted by the All Ceylon Music Society, Colombo in 1969.Won many prizes and awards at school level.
Awarded title “Sangeetha Vidwa Shironmani” in 2006 by Varasithi Vinayagar Devasthanam.
Awarded “Isai Vidya” title jointly by the Australian Tamil Broadcasting Corporation Sydney & Canberra Arupadai Murugan Temple at the Maha Kumbhabishekam festival.
Received volunteer service award from the Ontario Government in 1993.
Performances, Achievements:
Performed as an “A “Grade Artiste in the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation & Rupavahini Television (Carnatic Vocal & Light Music.)
Staged my Arangetram in 1970 at Veerasingam Hall, Jaffna in front of my Guru Sangeetha Kalanithi Prof. Tanjore M.Thyagarajan.
Has completed more than 40 years of service in the music field.( Teaching experience).
Given vocal concerts (2-3 Hours in many occasions in Sri Lanka Island wide in temples, Music Festivals, Vel festival & internationally in U.K, U.S, Denmark, & Australia.
In Canada given Classical recital for Kalapam T.V.,CTBC Radio, TVI & Tamil one Television.
Sang for Dance & Miruthanga Arangetrams
Special Assignments:
Functioned as an Examiner for North Ceylon Oriental Music Society and Ramanathan Music Academy Examinations in Sri Lanka.
In Canada sat as an Examiner for Examinations conducted by the Academy of Fine Arts and Technology and for Thamil Isaikkala Manram of Ontario every year. Regularly act as a judge for music competitions.
Actively involved in the activities of Thamil Isai Kala Manram of Ontario since its inception in 1992 & functioning as its Vice President till today.
